Using blogs to create backlinks

Posted by Prozilla 2.0 on Feb 02, 2010

Prozilla 2.0 is a website that is based on WordPress. If you don’t know what WordPress is, you should as it is a content management system that seriously helps your SERP’s (Search Engine Results Pages).

First, by using WordPress, you can enable visitor’s to make comments on your posts which keeps your content fresh which SE robots like which in turn increases your value as a website.  Sounds good? It’s great! But not only can having your own WordPress based website be great for your SEO campaign, but other websites that are Wordpress or blog based, are great for you to use to create backlinks to your own website. By posting good, post related comments, you create a link to your own website that SE robots index.

Hey. I don’t normally leave comments, but I just wanted to say thanks for the great information. I have a blog too, though
I don’t write as good as you do, but if you want to check it out here it is. Thanks again and have a great day!

I approved the above comment (but did change the URL) as an example as to how someone can create a backlink from a blog. By commenting on this post and leaving information such as their name, email and website address (he didn’t leave one in the field, but in the post itself), the commenter is creating a backlink to his own website.

The only problem is that its not a quality backlink. Not even close.

Normally for comments like these Akismet (a WordPress Plugin) would detect this as spam and mark as such.

This type of post is a Black Hat technique and it’s obvious is was submitted via a robot or simular program.

First, comments like this are a waste of time. When you look at SE’s such as Google, the robots that spiders this page, will look at the link and see it has nothing to do with the article itself. The commenter did use a nofollow tag for the keywords World of Warcraft Hunter Pets, and a blog address which can help with rankings, but too many of these on two many irrelevant blogs, will put the domain on a spam list.

Don’t try this at home kids. Google and other major SE’s see right through this black hat technique.

I have to say that I got a chuckle out of your response to the obvious spam comment that was first. Creating backlinks, especially with anchor text, is a true way to leave backlinks on someone else’s blog post.

    Thanks for the content,
